Test of mechanical properties of furniture part 4: stability of storage units

GB / T 10357 "testing of mechanical properties of furniture" is divided into eight parts
- Part 1: table strength and durability;
- Part 2: stability of chairs and stools;
- Part 3: strength and durability of chairs and stools;
- Part 4: cabinet stability;
- Part 5: strength and durability of cabinets;
- Part 6: strength and durability of single bed;
- Part 7: table stability;
- Part 8: chair and rocking chair stability with tilting and reclining mechanical properties when fully reclined.
Part 4 of GB / T 10357.
This part is drafted according to the rules given in GB / T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB / T 10357.4-1989 furniture mechanical properties test cabinet stability.
Compared with GB / T 10357.4-1989, the main technical changes of this part are as follows:
- The general principle of stability test is added (see 4.1);
- The determination of the center of gravity is added (see 4.2);
- The stability test of baler was modified (see 4.3 of 1989 edition);
- The no-load stability of the movable parts of the non fixed cabinet is increased (see 4.4.1);
- The loading stability when the movable parts of the non fixed cabinet are closed are added (see 4.5.1);
- The loading stability of the movable parts of the non fixed cabinet when opened is modified (see 4.5.2 of 1989 edition);
- Stability of fixed cabinet is increased (see 4.6);
- The inspection report was deleted (see Chapter 6 of 1989 edition).

Testing mechanical properties of furniture part 4: cabinet stability
This part of GB / T 10357 specifies the test method of cabinet stability.
This part is applicable to the finished products of various single cabinet furniture, and other cabinet furniture can also be referred to.
2 general test conditions
2.1 test piece
The test piece shall be the finished product of complete assembly and meet the requirements of product design drawings.
All hardware connectors shall be installed firmly before the test.
Unless otherwise specified, dimensions less than 1 m shall be measured to the nearest accuracy ± 5 mm, and dimensions greater than or equal to 1 m shall be measured to the nearest accuracy ± 1 mm； The measurement of force should be accurate to ± 5%； The measurement of mass should be accurate to ± 1%。
3 test facilities
3.1 loading device
The structure of the equipment that can be applied vertical or horizontal force to the specimen according to the specified value or gradual increment shall not hinder the free overturning of the stressed specimen.
The height of the device used to prevent the movement of the test piece but not to limit the overturning of the test piece shall not be greater than 12 mm. If a higher size is allowed due to the special structure of the specimen, the maximum height should be just enough to prevent the specimen from moving.
3.3 ground requirements for test location
The ground of the test position should be horizontal and flat.
4 test items and steps
4.1 General principles
When the height of the cabinet is greater than 600 mm, and the product of the height from the ground (unit: m) of the center of gravity and the total mass (unit: kg) is greater than 6, the stability test (except shelf stability test) shall be conducted.
4.2 determination of center of gravity
The center of gravity of the cabinet is generally considered to be its geometric center. When installing the cabinet according to the manufacturer's instructions, set the adjustable cabinet foot to the middle position to measure the height of the cabinet from the ground center of gravity, and set other parts with adjustable height to the most position.
4.6 stability of fixed cabinet
Install the product according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. At the middle point of the front edge of the top surface of the test piece, 200 N horizontal outward force is applied and maintained for 10 s ~ 15 s.
Record whether the test piece is overturned and whether the connector is loose and damaged.
