preface

Forest seed inspection is an important work to provide accurate information about seed quality for seedling and afforestation. In the late 1970s, according to the needs of forestry production at that time, mainly referring to the international seed inspection regulations of international seed Inspection Association (ISTA) in 1976, combined with the actual situation of forest seed production in China, GB 2772-1981 "forest seed inspection method" was formulated after many years of experiments.

After the release and implementation of GB 2772-1981, all levels of forestry departments have established seed inspection institutions and carried out this work. Through the inspection, the quality of seed for production has been guaranteed, which has played a positive role in building fast-growing and high-yield forests, consolidating afforestation achievements and promoting the development of forestry.

Due to the improvement of forest seed management level and production technology, GB 2772-1981 can no longer meet the needs of the new situation. In order to make the revised standard in line with the international standards, the standard was revised according to the contents of ISTA 1993 international seed inspection regulations and its annex. The revised standard is equivalent to the international code in terms of technical content and Compilation Rules.

In the revision of GB 2772-1981, emphasis is placed on the consistency with international regulations. According to its content, the standard "forest seed inspection method" was renamed as "forest seed inspection regulation". Two chapters of X-ray measurement and quality inspection certificate are cited in this procedure; Other chapters are quoted on the basis of the content structure of the original standard. For example, in the chapter of sampling, the minimum weight of instruments and samples to be inspected and sampling methods are cited; In the chapter of purity analysis, the definition, instrument and two blue samples are cited; In the chapter of germination determination, the content of the definition is quoted. The germination standard is raised from bud to seedling, which makes the germination result closer to the field germination. At the same time, the basic structure of seedling is introduced, and the standard of normal and abnormal seedling and weighing germination measurement method are specified. 118 tree species are specified in the original standard, and 4 tree species are reduced in this revision, In addition, 35 new tree species were added, with a total of 149 species. Among the newly added tree species, there are trees and shrubs, i.e. useful timber trees and economic trees, i.e. afforestation environmental protection trees in barren mountains and greening and beautifying trees; In the chapter of vitality determination, the contents of application scope and principle are quoted, and the technical conditions for seed determination of 48 genera and species are added, which is 26 tree species more than the original standard productivity measurement; In this chapter, the definition, principle and procedure are added; In the chapter of moisture content measurement, the definition, principle, instrument and program are quoted; In the chapter of weight determination, principles and instruments are cited. According to the content structure quoted above, the definition, principle, measuring tools and procedures were added in the chapter of excellence degree determination. Meanwhile, the extrusion method in the original standard was deleted, and the number of species with excellent degree was increased from 53 to 130. The appendix of the original standard shall be treated as an appendix according to the provisions of GB / T 1.1-1993. In addition, the chapters in GB 2772-1981 that have been proved to be suitable for China's situation and not to hinder international use are retained, such as indigo determination and excellence test in productivity measurement.

This standard is formulated for the main tree species of afforestation. However, from the perspective of operation procedures and inspection methods, it is still applicable to the tree seeds not mentioned in the standard in principle even if some details are missing.

This standard replaces GB 2722-1981 from the date of implementation.

Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C and Appendix D of this standard are all appendix of the standard.

Appendices E and F of this standard are indicative ones.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the principles and methods of sampling, purity analysis, germination determination, viability determination, goodness determination, seed health error determination, water content determination, weight determination and X-ray determination for afforestation tree species seed inspection, and also specifies the content and format of quality inspection certificate.

This standard is applicable to seed quality inspection conducted by forest seed producers, managers and users during seed collection, transportation, sowing, storage and domestic and foreign trade.
